Gracious and Merciful God,
We come before You with hearts humbled by Your greatness and goodness. You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth, yet You stoop down to care for each one of us. We acknowledge that we are dust and ashes, utterly dependent on Your grace and mercy.
Lord, forgive us for the times when pride has taken root in our hearts. We confess that we have often sought recognition and praise for ourselves, forgetting that every good gift comes from You (James 1:17). We humbly repent of our arrogance and self-centeredness.
Teach us the way of humility, as we look to Jesus, who humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death on a cross (Philippians 2:8). Help us to follow His example, laying aside our own ambitions and desires, and embracing Your will above all else.
Grant us the grace to value others above ourselves, considering their needs and interests as more important than our own (Philippians 2:3-4). Let us not seek to promote ourselves but to serve and uplift others in love.
Lord, we pray for humility in our relationships. Help us to listen with humility, seeking to understand and learn from others. May we be quick to forgive and slow to take offense, extending grace and compassion as You have shown us.
When we encounter criticism or correction, teach us to receive it with a humble heart, recognizing that it can be an opportunity for growth and refinement. Keep us from becoming defensive or resistant to correction, but rather help us to humbly embrace the lessons You are teaching us.
In a world that often values pride, status, and success, keep us grounded in humility. Remind us that true greatness lies in becoming the servant of all (Matthew 23:11). Help us to use whatever talents and gifts You have given us to serve and bless others.
Lord, we pray for humility in our thoughts and attitudes. Guard us against arrogance and haughtiness, and instead, fill our minds with thoughts that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).
May our humility lead us to a deeper trust and dependence on You. Teach us to rely on Your strength, knowing that when we are weak, then we are strong in You (2 Corinthians 12:10).
Finally, Lord, we pray that our lives may reflect the beauty of humility, pointing others to Your greatness and glory. May Your light shine through us, that others may see Your love and grace in our words and actions.
We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself for our sake. May we walk in His footsteps, seeking to live lives of humility and surrender to Your will. Amen.
